Virtual reality now makes it possible to check out houses without actually having to travel to the property

Buying a home is a lifetime event. The moment of moving into a home is celebrated and the outcome is joyous. However, the process of buying a home is often tedious, time consuming, at times a bit nerve wracking. One needs to visit at least 10 to 15 properties individually before deciding which one to buy or rent, and getting to them in the ever-increasing traffic can be harrowing and may at times take days or months even.
Magicbricks has come up with a unique solution to this problem where an individual can save himself the trouble of actually visiting a property to get the look and feel of it. Magicbricks has launched a first-of-its kind Real Estate Experiential Centre in Mumbai. Equipped with state of the art technology & power of unmatched content, the initiative aims to change the way they have been traditionally going about property search.
The Experience Centre is a unique & beautiful amalgamation of the online & offline worlds thereby bridging an important gap that existed between a buyer & a seller. Using technologies like Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, on-demand Video-call and large format touch screens, the brand has created a compelling proposition to address the myriad questions that plague a buyer during his home buying journey.

My experience at the Magicbricks experience centre:

This centre is located at concourse 3 at the recently inaugurated Magicbricks Western Express Highway Metro station at Andheri. The place is easily spottable when one gets off the metro at the station and it looks really neat. As soon as I entered it I noticed the colourful buzz wall which constantly displays new property listings.
Inside the experience centre there are giant touch screen displays showing the options to narrow down the properties according to an individual’s requirement. To cater to the research needs of a home buyer, Magicbricks is exposing its database created over eight years. A home buyer can know all about a locality, research the track record of a developer, how the locality is coming up through our “Match My Needs” application.
There is a kiosk which converts 2-dimensional floor plans into 3D simulated plan which is a feature of augmented reality. A buyer can figure out where exactly his apartment is in the entire society, how far it is from the main entrance of the society, check out the open spaces, take stock of the inter tower spaces and checkout the green areas.
I tried out the virtual reality headset and was taken aback at how well I could pan around the house and check out all its minor details, how seamlessly I could navigate from one room to another and get a 360-degree view of the house and its surrounding locality. I would strongly recommend everyone to visit the experience centre and feel the difference for themselves.
